A Creative Holiday Tradition Returns to the Sourlands:
Highland Design Farm Open Studios Holiday Sale This Weekend

Hopewell’s vibrant arts community comes alive this weekend as Highland Design Farm welcomes visitors to its annual Open Studios Holiday Sale, held Saturday and Sunday, December 6th and 7th, from 10 AM to 5 PM. Nestled in the beautiful Sourland Mountains, this cherished event invites the public to step inside the working studios of nine exceptional artists and experience the craftsmanship, creativity, and community that make Highland Design Farm such a treasured local landmark.

Guests can explore an inspiring range of work—from fine furniture and photography to sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, basketry, painting, and textile art—offering a rare chance to meet the artists, learn about their process, and find truly meaningful gifts for the holiday season.

This year’s participating Highland Design Farm artists include:

  • Sean Mannix, founder of Highland Design Farm and an award-winning designer known for his sculptural furniture and innovative material approach.

  • Richard Speedy, a fine-art photographer whose atmospheric landscapes capture the quiet beauty of nature, especially the Sourlands.

  • Susan MacQueen, whose whimsical and expressive mixed-media animal sculptures have earned her a devoted following.

  • Luna Sconty, a painter exploring color, form, and light through imaginative, dreamlike imagery.

  • Bob Steeler, a painter celebrated for his evocative cloudscapes and expressive natural scenes.

  • Ric Stang, a master craftsman admired for his distinctive turned vessels and woodwork with striking spalted patterns.

  • James Jansma, an accomplished ceramic artist whose vessels and panels draw deeply from natural forms and surface textures.

  • Scott Grossman, a wood artist creating graceful turned pieces that highlight the beauty and movement within the grain.

  • Lynn Ebeling, an artisan basket maker whose traditional craftsmanship and eye for design result in beautifully handwoven works.

Visitors will find the studios at 159 Van Dyke Road, Hopewell, NJ, with full event details available at www.highlanddesignholiday.com.

The weekend also marks a broader celebration of the arts in Hopewell. On Saturday, December 6th, the Art & Community Holiday Market returns to the Hopewell Train Station, bringing together local makers and small businesses. In addition, Morpeth Gallery will host a special Open House on Saturday, inviting guests to enjoy even more of the region’s extraordinary artistic talent.

With so many creative events happening at once, this Hopewell Holiday Arts Weekend offers a perfect opportunity to explore, shop local, and support the artists who make our community such a culturally rich and inspiring place.

Whether you're searching for a one-of-a-kind gift or simply eager to experience the magic of the Sourlands in December, Highland Design Farm welcomes you to join them for a festive, art-filled weekend.
